Hello, I am looking for a PCI vid card and have a limited budget of no more than $85. Which of these cards would be best: 3D Blaster Annihilator 2 Geforce2 MX 400 32 megs; Hercules 3D Prophet 4000XT; and a GeForce2 MX 200 32 megs. Future support is a consideration, I must add. TIA

I would scratch the Geforce 2 MX200. 64 bit memory bus and slow SDR ram do not add up to good performance. The Kyro 3D Prophet 4000XT is a 32 mb sdram card that is clocked at only 115 Mhz, but I am not sure how much the tile based rendering system compensates for it. I guess if those are your only choices, I would go for the Creative Annihilator 2 MX. I have one of them in the AGP version and it is okay, but I do have one of the compgeeks.com visiontek Geforce 2 GTS cards on order to replace it. Luckily I have an AGP slot, which will be filled nicely by this $87 hot deal.

The 4000XT is pretty lowly clocked but the TBR/HSR does do quite a bit for the card, I've got one temporarily right now and it runs everything quite smooth @800X600X32. I've only got a Duron 750mhz so it ain't getting too much assistance.
Although if I had the choice I would get the Creative Annihilator MX400. It'll run most everything well enough for the casual gamer. Plus the T&L unit comes in quite handy in games like B&W.
