I have a friend who just boght a new computer and has strange problem. if he uses anything other than AOL to access the internet, he gets a message that no dial tone is detected. All the settings in the control panel look okay.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

tell him to uninstall AOL 5.0 and go back to 4.0 it's the aol 5.0 software thats doing it

Do you mean AOL as a browser or as an ISP?
