A while back I purchased the PC DVD Encore 6x by Creative Labs. And I absolutely love it. Had no trouble setting it and it has been very stable.
I think now they are up to 8x so you may want to think about going with that one. The one I have came with a decoder card and TV-Out capabilities. So if you've got a nice TV, you don't have to watch them on your monitor, just output to the TV!
Hope this helps...

In my opinion, the best DVD drive that's available for purchase is the slot Pioneer 10x/40x DVD drive. I have the tray version, and it rocks. I'd like to have the slot for the digital out though (not to mention that it's just cooler).

I have the 103s (slot load w/o digital out)which is 6X32 and is a good value. Of course, around sept the new 10x40's where coming out at just over $100, so I got it at $65. I think there's achip shortage so the prices are kind of steep now.

I have a creative 6X with card and love it. Creative gives great support and updates regularly and it matches my SB Live sound card too!

Nevermind. I found some reviews of it.
The slot mechanism is definately cooler http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif. Have those been out for awhile? I've never heard of anything like that except in car cd players.
I could only find a list price of $125. Where can I buy this? Please post some retailers. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
Thanks!

One of the easiest to use to find different vendors of a product is www.pricewatch.com (http://www.pricewatch.com) http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Slot load is IMOH hard to give up, but there is no manual safety release for my 103s. I don't know about the 104s(10x40 slot) Any 1 with the 104s?
Out of stock cause it's $105: http://www.thebigstore.com/dept/product.asp?pid=237255
new 16x40 drive, slot is not released yet.(good luck finding 1): http://www.pioneerusa.com/pr_sweet16.html
It seems out of stock every where I looked.
