I have been trying to get my camcorder hooked up to my Radeon so I can record home video's etc. Anyways, I have the A/V cable plugged into the camcorder. The RCA video into the input on the Radeon and the RCA Audio ( I had to put on a converter to change the plug type ) plugged into the line in on the video card. I can record video but cannot get any sound. ????????? Arrgggg...
I have "Line-in" enabled for recording??

Try feeding the audio directly to the line in on the sound card. I had to do this with my Studio PCTV tuner/capture card.

It is enabled and selected. The cable is plugged into the onboard sound card to "LINE IN".

You enabled "line in" on your sound card, but did you go into setup for your capture software and select "line in" as the audio source? (some have "line in", "aux in"...)

I had to do this with my Pinnacle Studio PCTV card, I'm wondering if the Radeon capture software has the same selections...

'Line in' in the video card? There's no such thing, there's just composite video and svhs video in. You need to connect it to the line in of your sound card. For that you need rca/stereo plug.

It has sound now when I am playing a tape through the camcorder directly into the pc. I bring up Video In and hit play on the camcorder and the video plays and sound works now, but when I try and record off the tape to save to the pc, and play it back that way, there is no sound.? Really didn't think it would be this complicated.

I've had this same problem before with my Radeon VIVO. Make sure you have selected "Line In" as the recording device for sound in the "Video In" capture program (not just in the normal Windows sound properties). You can do this through the Initialization Wizard in the setup of the Video In program. If Line In does not work, try changing it to Aux In or others; I had this problem once. Also, if you are recording the file as an AVI make sure that the "Record Audio" box is checked (I know that sounds newbie-ish, but hey you never know). Hope this helps.
