Okay, just bought a GeForce3. Having problems with it. 3Dmark 2000 will not run, gets to the game1 text screen and just starts flickering. 3Dmark 2001 has graphic problems, before each benchmark there is a paused screen, next paused screen, then runs. Also has that very colorful video card overclock effect, the one where there are just colors everywhere.
I haven't even overclocked the card yet, everything is still at default setting.
Specs are:
Abit KT7 Raid
Tbird 750@1000
Visiontek GeForce3 set at default
Soundblaster live x-gamer 5.1
nic card
scsi card
Also running the 10.80 drivers for the vid card. I've tried to 12 and the 11 and had the same problems.
Only change was I went from a GeForce2 mx to the GeForce3.

This is slightly off topic but please tell me how you like the GF3 over your MX. I have a 1Gig with an MX (running at 200/200) and was thinking of upgrading soon to a GF3, please tell me how much better it is?

Alright, I have fixed my problem. Stupid me forgot to check my AGP Aperature Size. I normally run it at 256mb, helped run my other 2 (a 16mb Velocity4400 and 32mb GeForce2 MX) graphics cards better.
I justed dropped the AGP Ap size to 64mb, no problems. Took it up to 128mb, no problems.
So now my AP size is half of my system memory.
The card runs great 3dMark 2001 score was 4620 at default settings. Haven't overclocked it yet. The card does run hot though. Even with the heatsinks and fan.
The Gpu Heatsink/fan only has the fins going around the outer edge of the heatsink, with the fan countersunk.
Need to change to heatsink/fan for a better one.
The heat sink pops off by pulling the pin head out of each retainer, then pushing the retainer from the bottom of the board.
Scraped off the thermal tape ****, cleaned the hs and gpu, applied thermal grease and reinstalled hs.
Still runs hot, but I love this card. Getting ready to test it on 3dMark 2000 at default.

Never mind. I put the manufacturer on my system spec.

Visionteks are the only GF3's out yet (from what I've heard). It sounds nice! I need a faster CPU before I get a card like that though.
Happy benchmarkings!

Oh, definitely get a better hs/fan for the GeForce3. It does run hot.
Anyone remember the site address for graphic card heatsinks?

I'm running a Blue Orb on my overclocked Radeon LE (stock is 149Mhz, I'm running 185Mhz). It seems to be running pretty cool for me.
It's about $15 with shipping from NewEgg (http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProduct.asp?submit=manufactory&catalog=62&manufactory=1379) .

Cool, thanks Kuasi.
Well, I have been running my GF3 all night, and it's heatsink is barely warm to touch...maybe the chip you got just runs a little hotter than others?

BBA, which GeForce3 do you have? (Manufacturer).
Mine is pretty much a flat piece of aluminum with a fan on it.
So I ordered the Blue Orb. Supposed to be here Monday.

Got my Blue Orb today. Fit like a glove.

imperion...you saved me from pulling out what little hair i have left. i got this visionteck gf3 today and had the exact same problems. to a T. also i couldn't play any direct3d games. opengl worked fine. i tried all drivers and registry settings. then i read your post and smacked myself in the head. my gf2 gts got better performance if i set the aperture(spelling??) size to the amount of ram i had. dropped it to 128 and bingo. no problems.
btw..what do you think of the graphics in 3dmark2001? that ocean scene takes my breath away. after seeing that i would of payed 600 dollars for this card.
Iv'e got the Visiontek GF3 also. Still no heat issues, but I also have super case cooling.

What does the AP size do? I have 3D Prophet III GeForce 3 and I think I set mine at 64MB cuz I thought that this was supposed to be set according to the AGP Cards Memory size... What are the advantages to setting it to 128MB. How do I set it to 128MB?

Graphics card is still running cool.
Built a DDR system, so I've been down for about a week. I moved the internals from my full tower to my mid tower and had problems booting. I was only able to boot into safe mode.
Still finishing up on this DDR system. Haven't run any benchmarks yet either.
I'll let you all know later how much of a difference there is between my old KT7raid @ PC133 and this DDR @ 266.

Would someone please tell me why no matter what I do when playing CS I get 60FPS on my Guillemot GeForce 3? I have the resolution set to around 1240 by 800 or something like that ,in cs, and other people who are playing and have GeForce 2's say that they are using the same resolution and are getting between 70 and 100 fps.. .whats with that? HELP! Please

make sure vsinc is turned off otherwise it will run at the same fps as the frequency (60Hz).
Check through the drivers for this setting.

Thank You, that was what was restricting it... now I am getting around 90-100FPS
Is that what I should be expecting?
