WOW. http://dailynews.yahoo.com/h/ap/20000328/ts/texas_tornadoes.html bdog 03-28-2000, 11:13 PM Your brother is very lucky it missed him. Tornado's are scary stuff. My parent's house was hit by one in 1995. I wasn't home when it hit, but I got there minutes after. The house survived, but needed a new roof. A bunch of trees and their fence were ripped out of the ground like nothing. The neighbor's house was leveled. The power of those things is just amazing. welsh wizard 03-29-2000, 12:13 AM Just seen some of the pictures of the TX one on Skynet, it really messed the city up , seems lucky that not to many died with it, I hope all your Familly are alright that live in the area. WW Prospero 03-29-2000, 05:20 AM They certainly can be nasty, I worked the trauma units for the big one we had in Oklahoma last May. I swear it looked like a war zone. It was a major miracle we didn't have more deaths than we did. jadison 03-29-2000, 05:40 AM I was driving from Austin, TX to San Antonio, TX when the storm 1st started. I had just left Austin when they issued warnings for areas nearby. Atleast halfway their to SA, heavy torrential rains poured down, heavy fog on the highway, things I don't like driving in!! Then as I listened closer I heard heavy winds and the radio just said a tornado had touched down in my area...I was a little shocked, but I never did see it. After about 2 miles into SA, the weather was calm. I've already been in a hurricane back in '88-'89 in North Carolina...it blew my roof off! And a tornado in Dallas, TX earlier last decade. I love extreme weather but not when it gets too close!! -jd- NavyDood_ F/A18_Mech 03-29-2000, 05:56 AM I drove right through that cell that caused the tornadoes in Fort Worth. I drove through it about 15 miles South-SouthWest of Downtown before it hit. Couldn't see 10 feet in front of the car due to the rain. I've never seen a storm brew up so fast. And I have seen some nasty storms being from the Mid West. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif All is good over here on the West side where I live. Another tornado touched down in Arlington off of Matlock Rd. two blocks North of the In-laws house. They said didn't even here it. They walked over there after the storm passed and said the damage to the houses wasn't real severe from what they could tell in the dark. Just chimneys and roofs mainly. Jim psyklone 03-29-2000, 06:01 AM yeah, i can't say i've seen a storm like that come out of nowhere so fast. it was still going pretty strong when it hit over here in dallas, but no tornados. there was some huge hail too, softball sized. it put one guy in the hospital with a skull fracture. from what i've heard so far there were only two casualties from the tornado itself. i'm surprised that the count wasn't higher than that considering where it hit. wyvrn 03-29-2000, 08:21 AM navydood: I just found out the toronado that hit downtown was 2 miles from my brother's workplace. The one that hit Matlock was 2 miles from his residence, his wife and 3 kiddos were home. Talk about double whammy. But everyone I know is ok. I thank God for that. I would ask that everyone pray for the families of the 4 that died. SysOpt.com
