IE 5 much better Than Netscape

The IE 5 beta offered on Windows Update is far superior to Netscape. They finally fixed the FTP portion of Explorer, so Netscape is no longer on my machine. I can't wait for the IE 5 final.

After installing IE5, my Task Scheduler is gone. The sound is gone too. Stupid Win98 always asks me if I want to disconnect from my ISP after I close IE5. A long way to go for IE5.

Tweak it Tseng. Also, try Norton Windoctor. That little gem is worth it's weight in Kilobytes.

Under one of the net options you can diable that log offf ip message.
IE 5 did not go well on my comp nice to use but it would't load half the pages(invalid site messages) and those that did about 25%
of the picture's din't make it.
So i'm back to ie4 still a lot nicer to use than netscape

How much garbage does it dump into your OS folder? The reason I'm asking is that I have dual WinNT4/Win98, and so far I'm using Netscape4.5 because it doesn't need to put anything into each OS's folder (it keeps all its files in its own place). When I previously used IE4.01, (besides its other side effects like crashing) it filled up my little FAT16 C: partition (for WinNT)...oh well
But anyway, I've just gotten a bigger disk (and I plan to re-partition and reinstall everything), so I am considering using the latest IE5 beta instead of Netscape. MS Visual Studio 6 requires having IE4+ anyway (talk about monopoly), and I have a personal grudge against IE4.01 for its bad stability. Is IE5 worth the try? How stable is it? And how is it better than Netscape4.5? Thanks.

Before you install, you may want to head over to the MSIE5 Beta newsgroup under msnews.microsoft.com called microsoft.public.inetexplorer.ie5beta.

Very hard to believe that after all this time and so many **** versions, MS has finally produced a decent browser. Virtually impossible to believe its better than Netscape. Tseng's experience, however, does sound very familiar and is much easier to believe. I guess it would be nice if MS could come up with a decent product in this area and not have to rely on illegal monopolistic practices to foist it on consumers.
