just picked up a tv tuner card..the ATI TV wonder VE pci card. Installation was a snap, programs installed just as easy and tuner did its thing and selected all available channels etc...opened the tv portion and lo and behold it froze with single frame of the channel selected and no audio. Checked everything and then went to all the websites for more info and to see if updated drivers etc were needed...finally found it...I currently have a 16mb tnt2 nvidia agp card and ATI website states "This issue is caused due to changes in the way overlay is handled in the Nvidia 3.53 and higher driver releases" Of course I have the newest drivers for my card installed
and the thing wont work. They suggest loaded older drivers for it to work. Is'nt that sorta like suggesting I put a 6 cyl. into a corvette. Anyway I have'nt decided on returning this card for a refund as I am going to be upgrading to a 64 mb Gforce card in the next month but wonder if I will run into the same problems as most of the gforce card are Nvidia based are they not? Is there
a better tv tuner card that will not have grief with the gforce cards or is there a better video card that is compatable with the ATI card I have?

GeForce cards are produced by nvidia (the chipset). Get a gforce card that has a tv tuner and return the ati.

I have the ATI TV Wonder (Non Value Edition) and a Hercules Geforce2 MX card...

works perfect never have had a problem.. plugged it in, installed the software, tv up in no time..

I am thinking maybe it's a problem with the VE edition? I think it is sort of the winmodem of TV Tuners..

I also have a TV wonder card that freezes and doesn't display tv. I hear it's the driver disk they send with it. You can't download a new driver, but they will for free send you a new disk with a more recent copy of the drivers and software. You don't really need a GeForce with TV out, keep the ATI. I hear it has a better image as a TV tuner. It does, however use a PCI slot. You could always go for the AIW Radeon...

Hey guys i have the solution to the problem but dont know if you guys will like the solution. I also just bought the ATI TV Wonder VE card and i also have a 32mb RIVA TNT2 video card on my gateway PC. Anyways, the problem is that the Tuner card has issues with the video card if the drivers are over version 2.0. I had version 4.03 on my pc and i just uninstalled my card from add-remove programs, and rebooted up my pc and Windows 98 installed version 1.0. I guess its a generic driver that Win98 contains, but it took care of the problem. Watching TV right now as im writing this, hope it helps.
