I've owned a few Dell systems and they are MUCH better than the rest - believe me I've checked out other companies. All of the parts they put in their computers are name brand and top quality. You get a great deal on everything that comes with your system - right down to the two, great sounding standard harman/kardon speakers that can come with it (you can get better). The ability to easily configure your system the way you want it is one of my favorites.
My friend bought a Compaq **** from Staples. The hardware is all off brand (soundcard, modem, video card, etc.) including the $15 very, very bad speakers. I have never heard speakers that sounded as bad as the two he got with his system. Anyways, enough about speakers (I can't help that I'm an audio freak http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif)
Oh yeah! I almost forgot the most important part of the deal: the 3 YEAR WARRANTY!!! They will send you whatever parts that are broken in your Dell system for free the next business day. They will also send a "techie" to your house if you need that much help. You can call them on the phone and talk with a very knowledgable computer "geek" for hours if you're having trouble. My dad has had them send him a new video card, modem and has spent countless number of hours on the phone with them getting help with his computer.
Sorry if this is a bit long, but I really like Dell and have had a great experience with them. I even went as far as ordering a two-toned hat from them! It's unfortunately on backorder right now, but that's another story.
Dell computers are MUCH higher than they are cracked up to be. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

P.S. - Just so you know, in my comparation of Dell to other companies I checked out HP (ugh!), Compaq (a little better, but not much), Midwest Micro and Gateway (MM and the cow company are pretty much tied).
P.S.S - A word of advice: never buy a computer or a piece of software at Staples.
