I am currently using LG Flatron 775Ft 17" Monitor with a Matrox G450 DDR 32MB AGP Video card. My default resolution is 800 * 600 with 16bit color (running at 85 MhZ).

My question is if I want to increase my Refresh right from 85 MHz to 100 MHz (Vertical is 100 MHz and Horizontal is 63 MHZ), will this shorten the life span of my video card or monitor.

Please advise.

If that refresh is within the specs for your monitor, it won't shorten the life at all, but if it isnt, you will probably notice right away, blurry text is one of the first signs that you are exceeding the available bandwidth. The refesh should not effect your video card life at all, reguardless of the monitor specs.

Have a bigger bro of you 775, the 795FT, and you can put up to 160 Hz refresh rate at this resolution (my monitor can go beyond 1280x1024, up to 1600x1200, that's pretty much the difference) ...

Best Regards ...
