just got new vid card, mobo, cpu, and monitor.

vid card - MSI Starforce 815Pro (geForce2
Chipset
monitor - compaq P75 17" CRT Flat Display

after windows installed, i tried to install video card drivers...when windows boots, instead of log on screen, it says "Input Signal Out of Range". Well, after messing around with the drivers a bit, i fixed that problem...

now the problem is there when i try to play some games. So far it happens when I try to play Tachion and Thief...in tachion it gives me the error, I hit esc, and then it fixed itself, but with thief I have to restart.

Any suggestions?

You could check the refresh rate on your vid card, make sure that it's set to like "optimal".

It sounds like the vid card is refreshing too fast or too slow for the monitor.

thanks, i'll try that...

New Info...

when I change the monitor driver from "Compaq P75 Color Monitor" to "Default Monitor" it doesn't give me the error...however, it's not letting me see the intro or any movies...not sure if this is display related or not, though.

Try this and see if it helps:
go to the following directory: c:\program files\directx\
double-click on dxdiag
go to the "more help" tab
click on "override"
select an override value that you know your monitor can handle, like 60Hz. If that's too low or flickers too much then try 70, 72, or 75Hz.
That should fix your problems with games, but it won't affect the normal desktop.
