How cool would another checkherebox be that e-mailed you when someone replies to a thread that you did not start?

i've often wondered that... ya know, if there was a check box so that you'd be e-mailed when someone posted a reply in a thread that you did not start, as you stated...

i suppose it may be the UBB software, so it may not be possible to change this... but, maybe it is an option...

any admins out there that might know if this is possible? any input would be greatly received by the both of us (as well as anyone else that has ever wondered this http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif)

and thanks...

Hi guys

The current UBB version does not have this feature, therefore it can't be implemented.

I'm sorry, I'm afraid I cannot help in this situation!

Because of the way the forum is designed, it would be extremely difficult to implement. As it is now, when someone posts to a thread, the software checks to see if a bit is set on the thread as to whether to email the original poster. If notification to anyone who wanted it was implemented, it would have to check every single poster to see if the bit was set for each individual, and to my knowledge there isn't any place to store that data.

I'll keep an eye out on the UBB support page for a hack, though, because I'd like to see it added, too.

That would be a big improvement to UBB, especially on a board this size. It's hard to keep track of where you've been.

There are also a lot of available UBB features & enhancements I see elsewhere that are not implemented here. I've always assumed that was due to the volume, those would slow things down or take up too much space. Correct?

I think that this would be a very good feature... as with Ed, it's hard to remember where you've posted an answer sometimes...

Easiest way I've found is to do a username search with your own username, set to "all forums" and "since yesterday" or "5 days ago", or whatever, to bring up all you've posted to recently. But that doesn't show if there's been a reply or not!

Anything you can do to get more info shown on the "Search Results" page, Scott? Like maybe time & last user to post?
