I have noticed that it is becoming harder and harder to find Nvidia based cards OTHER THAN GF2MX in the computer stores lately. Atleast around here. Best Buy has a ton of ATI, along with C.USA as well. Arrggg. Even the smaller stores are all hyping the ATI cards.Just about a month ago I was able to find various Nvidia cards, now I am out there only to find ATI all over the place. Did I miss something? Not to flame ATI, but why so many. Heck, in one store I found about 4 different versions of ATI cards and only 2 version of Nvidia... and it was the ASUS GF2 GTS 32mg/ and the ASUS MX and the GTS was $254.15+ tax and the MX was $117.00+ tax. Geez....

Sorry, I meant GTS not Ultra. $254.00 is high for the GTS.

They are a leader in suppling the off the shelf pc companies. Even some big custom ones. You can't just rip up their long term contracts cause nvidia all of a sudden is better. Most people are not hardcore gamers. Most of the computer buying public don't even know what nvidia is.
$254 for an Ultra and you're complaining. That's the best I've seen and no top of that at a retail store.

I think it has a lot to do with the fact that the GeForce3 was supposed to out by now and retailers got too far ahead of the game. Or nVidia is having production problems. Go ATI, you won't be disappointed, unless you're holding out for the GeForce3. The visuals are 3X better with the ATI than the GeForce2. I know this from personal experience. I went from a GeForce256 DDR to the ATI Radeon 64MB DDR ViVo.
sweeper...might be funny, but I think the Ultra may be $254 sooner than you think...since the GF3 is gonna be only $399...
since the GF3 is gonna be only $399...
Only 400 ?????
That's a lot of money, I would hardly call it ONLY. nVidia's marketing is very sly. Announce the card at 600 + then wait a few weeks for that to sink in, then drop the price down 200, now everyone thinks it's cheap.

What about the ATI Radeon? Better then Nvidia? I have been using Nvidia for years. The only other cards I have used have been Voodoo 3 2000 (which is in the other pc) and years ago I had an ATI All in Wonder or something to that nature. My brother has the ATI Rage Pro Turbo 16 meg PCI in his pc and the graphics are horrible. Plus there driver support isn't updated to often. I have heard alot about the ATI Radeon. ???? I got the nerve to switch from Intel to AMD. Now should I make the jump from Nvidia to ATI. Seems Nvidia is getting VERY expensive like Intel started to. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

Well...you have to understand...I spent $500 for my GF2 Ultra last October...so I do not consider $400 out of range here...considering the performance and features the card has.

so half the cost of an $1000 computer could be the video card ? No thank you . I can wait ,and why not wait . You get to avoid most of the bug's. Also if it's that new the game's will not be ready to support it.
personal expierence has taught me to buy the "last great thing".

I'm with you nunyadam, I try to stay one step behind the "cutting edge". Then I don't have to deal with the bugs, I can afford to upgrade more often, and I have all the power that the current software demands.
I usually figure that you can buy 75% of the performance for about 1/3 of the price.
"ATI Rage Pro Turbo 16 meg PCI in his pc and the graphics are horrible. Plus there driver support isn't updated to often."
Well, a card that old doesn't support much of the high tech graphics of today. And often the support for legacy devices is laggy. ATI (according to a comp magazine here in Finland) has the most frequent driver updates anyway. I'm sticking to my Asus TNT3400vivo =)
