newbie vid card questions

hey everyone, i recently got a better vid card, diamond viper v770.and in order to play games example;the bridge builder,and need for speed 3.i have to crank up my display properties in windows prior to gameplay..is this normal? the slider in nfs3 is all the way to the max.any things i am missing?

yes gamma brightness and contrast...been trying all of them to see which works best

actually its pretty common for d3d games to have seeminly non-functional gamma sliders..

nfs3 is 'supposed' to be kinda dark.. if you wanna white wash things more than the in-game gamma slider lets you, then you will have to use the driver's gamma correction.

just something you kinda have to grin and bare... you can save configs for setups in the driver though, so its not a massive hassle..
