Click to See Complete Forum and Search --> : Which drivers do you use for Geforce cards?

Do you use the ones straight from nVidia or do you use the one from the card's manufacture?

I have the ASUS v7700 (Geforce 2 32MB), with ASUS drivers installed. I have them installed because without them I couldn't monitor the temp with SmardDoctor or overclock the card with the tweak utility. Does anybody else have this card and if so which drivers do you use and why?

I own a Leadtek Winfast GTS (Geforce 2 32MB), which is essentially the same card as yourself.

The latest drivers at Leadtek's webpage are based upon the nvidia reference drivers 6.48 apparently. However, i use unofficial leaked drivers version 11.00 which I find have better visual quality and faster performance..I can overclock the card with GeForce Tweak or NVMax or similar if I wish, but I don't...

I use 6.72 Drivers for my GeForce2 MX, works the best and fastest on Windows 2000 for me.

I get them all and use what performs best and doesn't give stability problems with poer management etc. currently using the 11.00 type.

Currently using v7.52 (leaked version) on a GF2 GTS 32MB DDR (generic -- came from Dell in the system).

Lets me overclock if I want, I just don't (I need ramsinks to O/C it right).

Where can I find the leaked v10.00 or v11.00 drivers? I'm thinking I should know this, but I don't. Thanks

Bryan

To bwkaz, You can get those drivers here: http://www.3dxtreme.org

It's an excellent site, check out the message boards too!

The 10.80 seem to work well with W2K for me. Much faster than the 7.10 I was using, which was faster than the 6 series U used before that.

I never had any stability issues with any of them, unless I ran Q3 in SMP mode ( I have dual CPU's ).

I found running DX8a was the only way to go with the 7 series and up drivers.

Thanks, deore101, I'll check it out. I'm hoping version 10.xx or 11.xx will help performance a bit, we'll see if either of them actually does.

Edit: I checked the link, and the server appears to be down. Are there any other sites, or should I just try that one again later?

the r_smp 1 bug in Quake3 seems to be fixed in the 1100 series betas...

i'm currently runin the 1080's they seem to work the best on my Leadtek 256 DDR.

the Leadtek drivers always outperform the equal rev of nvidia reference drivers so i'd recomend using factory drivers... but leadtek is notoriously slow at putting out drivers that are even the same rev as the official nvidia referance.
so i generally only check 'm to see if they beat whatever i'm currently on at the time.

Dr_Watson...you can only run SMP in W2K...

Are you trying to say they have 11.x drivers for W2K? I can only find 10.80 drivers.

But I think the smp stability issue is really a game issue more than a driver issue, because Team Arena works fine in SMP with the 7 and up series.

Here's another question, what about the temp of your cards?

Mine is currently running at 89F (32C). Well this isn't under any load, but I don't believe it goes above 110F when under load.

I am aware the in order to use SMP you need NT or 2000 ... and SMP implementation is ALOT better on NT.

btw:yes, virginia.. there is a santa clause...

Well, this is with a GeForce2 GTS DDR, but it might be close with your card.....

I benchmarked with 3DMark 2000 v1.1.

v. 7.52: 6515
v. 10.50: 6536
v. 10.80: 6306
v. 11.00: 6180

I am currently running version 10.50.

The way I compared these was I installed the driver, then rebooted, shut everything down (like the RC5 cracking program from distributed.net running in the background.....), then ran the benchmark in 640x480x16 mode.

Individual results WILL vary somewhat. I'd say to go with the 10.50's, but you really should bench them to see for sure what works with your setup. However, if you have no time to do it (like you said), then just pick a version and go with it.

Edit: Just read in another thread that the 10.xx and (especially) 11.xx drivers are DX8 optimized. I am using DX8, but 3DMark 2000 isn't -- it's only using features of DX7. Maybe I'll have to try the other drivers again, with 3DMark 2001 this time.

hello folks- I dropped a link here the other day, and just now got back. I'm kind of new to all this. I too have been been working on updating my drivers, and would like to offer the following:

I've got a GeForce 2 GTS 32MB DDR, and started with the drivers that came on the CD. When I went to load 3D Mark 2001, I needed DirectX 8. Which meant I needed to upgrade to at least the Detonator's Version 6.5.
So, I did that. And got a 3d Mark score of 2243. Next, I tried Version 7.56. That came in at 1650. So, I tried Version 11.0, which scores 2650.

I run everything in 1024-768 res, 32 bit.

Any comparisons are welcomed!

Thanks!

I guess specs would be helpful, huh?

MSI K7T Pro2-A
AMD T-Bird 1.2Ghz
Elsa Gladiac Geforce 2 GTS 32MB
256MB PC-133

Anybody?

I'm running the Detonator 650 drivers and using the software from the graphic card company. Just had to tell it to install software and not to install the driver.

Other option is to install the driver and software from the company, then update driver.

I've done both without any problems.
