I was just thinking it would be interesting to be able to change the sound O.E. plays when I have mail. Is it possible, and if so, what's the sound file name, so I can replace it with a 'better' one?

Hi Butler

Yes, it's possible, and easy to do. Go to Control Panel/Sounds and click on the Windows New Mail Notification. Using 'browse' you can select any .wav file you have saved on your harddrive and associate it to New Mail Notification.

You can search the Net for .wav to download and save to your harddrive so you have as big a selection as you want. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

Wow, that was fast. Look around at other posts for 10 minutes, and there's a reply to mine. Thanks Socal, I'll try it...

I found this one: http://www.wavcentral.com/cgi-bin/log/log.cgi?id=5403&sound=/sounds/televis/letterman/congrats_mail.wav

It's Letterman saying "Congratulations, you've got mail"...Kinda cool...I also changed several of my other sounds...for example, now when I maximize a window, that little Taco Bell Chewawa says "I think I need a bigger box"...Hehe...

I just got this one for the exit windows sound.

Funny you mention that.
I changed mine the other day to play that AOL
"You Got Mail" .wav that I got off a friends
computer. I did it for my wife, and she loves it! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif
