Wilan Wong 02-17-2001, 09:41 PM All newer DirectX versions are compatible with older versions, so you won't lose any performance. When you card says it's written for DirectX7 is means that it takes advantages of the features of the DirectX7 package. NDD 02-18-2001, 05:19 PM If I allowed to add something ... DX8 offers great performance increase, but only for a cards which support it natively, and those for today are not even geForce2/Radeon ... NV20/geForce3, next generation GPU from nVIDIA will fully support DX8 ... You didn't mention what card do you have, but generally DX8 should be slightly faster then DX7, since better written routines ... Best Regards ... B.T.W. my videocard is a diamond viper 2, which is not one of the fastest in direct3d so i'm trying to squeeze out every last drop of performance i can get. thekingofpain 02-19-2001, 04:37 PM Went from 7 to 8 with a Radeon 64vivo---no change...drivers I have are supposed to optimize 8 but it aint showin...
