And how can I shut it down ?? -ReaperB- Bleeding Edge 05-07-1999, 07:44 PM No it is not normal unless it is scheduled to do this. See what ScanDisk settings are in Scheduled Tasks under System Tools. ReaperBot4 05-07-1999, 07:51 PM Hmm, already checked that!! Just read that turning "autoscan=1" to "autoscan=0" in msdos.sys file would do the trick... I´m off trying.. ThaNX anyhow!! Eli 05-07-1999, 11:41 PM This will probably sound really stupid... but you are shutting down properly, right? By actually clicking "Shut Down" from the start menu, and not just switching it off anytime? Just a thought. ReaperBot4 05-09-1999, 05:50 AM Of course I´m shutting down in the right way. But it´s only when I RESTART( also in the right way ) scandisk automatically starts. But I have fixed it with autoscan=0 as I said earlier! Haven´t anyone else had this problem??? mac 05-09-1999, 09:28 AM how did you do that in the registry or sysedit?would like to know for computers at work. ReaperBot4 05-09-1999, 10:45 AM I opened Msdos.sys file in C:\. in Notepad and changed the line Autoscan=1 to Autoscan=0. You´ll have to turn off the write protection off the file before editing and when done turn it on again for protection.. -ReaperB- mac 05-09-1999, 11:27 AM thanks socalgal 05-09-1999, 10:29 PM I just checked my msdos.sys and I have Autoscan=1. This makes me wonder WHY you have to force it to keep ScanDisk from running on your reboots. If it works, it works. Guess I just wonder WHY alot. SysOpt.com
