I just bought a new Aopen GeForce 2 MX, my default 3D Bench score came in at about 2297.

My System:

Amd TBird 1Ghz
Abit Kt7 Raid
256mb 133Mhz SpectTek Ram
32MB AGP GeForce2 MX

I have no problem with speed however these scores(from 1905-2297) are abominable.
I have a heatsink, grease and even a cooler fan that screws into a slot like a PCI card.

When I o/c and am successful which is a meager 175/185 I still do not see gains in performance.

I downloaded the latest detonator drivers (V7.23) I followed the installations directions but when I provide the path to the detonator dir, rejected. Am I missing something here?

What about Hardware/Software T&L?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

First off, get rid of your Det. drivers and download any of the 6.3X or 6.4X. They are superior. Next make sure you have the latest drivers installed for you motherboard.

My bet is that you don't have the current via 4 in 1 drivers loaded for your motherboard. The MX should give you better performance than that. How is it performing in other apps like games? UT or Q3?

with the via 4in1 4.25 drivers and the det 6.31 i am able to pull off a 4700 with a duron 800@1000 and a geforce 2mx at stock speeds. you should be able to do as well or better, i would remove the video craivers you have now, try the 6.31 and also uninstall the via drivers and reinstall them as well.

i only play counter-strike..and i see 100 fps most of the time...it will drop to about 35-40 in the middle of a bomb going off. if there are newer then version 4.25a via drivers i would like to try em...but that is all i see on the via website. yeah the 3dmark seems a little low...but in games it is faster than most geforce 1's and many geforce gts cards as well (i got a chance to check em out side by side at a counter-strike tournament)

Satisfaction at last! I posted a 3DBench score of 4723 at the cards default speeds.

I recieved a 7413 at 640*480 res. Insane!

Special thx to neo_otyugh and Chuck, as it turns out the 4in1 was the key. I originally installed 4.28a with no avail. Installed 4.25a and I'm in business. I also installed Nividia6.50, will keep testing each version for best performance.

Thanks to all your suggestions they were very insightful and as it turns out enlightening.

I'll post my o/c scores when I have everything working.

My first bench:
640*480 = 4723 - madonion ref# = 1329264

1024*768 = 7413 - madonion ref# = 1329177

P.S. for Cheapster - I currently do not have Quake or UT - but I will trust me!
