I have been benchmarking my system with 3D Mark 2000 and the results seem a bit low.
1330-1375
System:
AMD K6-2 500
128mb
Nvidia TNT2 Pro 32mb (driver v4.12.01.0618)
Any advice?

Need some more information, that way we may be able to offer tips and possible tweaks. Info needed:
Motherboard/Chipset
Operating System
DirectX Version
Your scores appear inline with expected results. Check the these results when I compared a the TNT-2 Ultra (slightly faster than your PRO) to other cards with a K6-2 500 test system:

Your score seems to be the average score for your video card/cpu.. Try to upgrade your cpu to give you a nice boost in 3Dmarks..

actually your score is about right.
i have a k6-2 350 and gf2mx and i get around 1800. so i recommend you upgrade your video card to geforce2mx. your score will be around 2500-3000 i think, just a guess though.

your score is normal. tnt2 is actually a weak card, in my opinion. the voodoo3 was always better than it. try upgrading to a geforce2 mx. should get a very respectable score with k6-2 500 and GF2 Mx and that. just make sure if you buy a creative labs geforce2 mx you use the detonator3 drivers because creative's SUCK!!!
Here's more info:
Motherboard/Chipset : Asus P5A-B/Ali
Operating System : Win98SE
DirectX Version : v8.0
By the sounds of it, my scores seem right then..oh well http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif
It sure runs better than my old P133 with a 1mb video card http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Consider yourself very lucky, as you are one of few that appears to have a stable ALI/TNT-2 combination. For the tweaking side of things, most K6-2 500's with operate at 550 MHz with no probs. Also, make sure you have updated to the latest ALI AGP for maximum performance:

Yes, I have heard that this combo can be a bit of a pain to get working. Didn't have any problems myself..knock on wood http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif
I am running AGP v1.72 right now..thanks for the info.
Would I need any special cooling to run the 500 at 550? I do have a pretty big hs/fan on it right now. Would it be safe at 5.5x100?
How much of a performance gain should I expect? Is it worth it?
Sorry for all the questions..still a newbie. http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

K6-450/GTS-32-DDR 3300-3400 3D Marks.Where did you get the Ali driver V 1.72? is it a AGP driver? I'm using V 1.69 on my P5A did not see a 1.72 at the Acer web site!

I got v1.72 from Asus website. I'm jealous of your scores! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Ive been using a TnT2 M64 on an Asus P5AB for a while now with no problems, except that the screensaver locks the pc at random (i fixed by disableing screensaver and using bios sttings to turn off monitor)

Assuming you don't raise the voltage, than the heat output is minimal between 500 and 550. Try changing your boards multiplier to 5.5 and give it a try. Most 2.2v 500's make 550 with little effort. If 550 doesn't prove stable, then try upping the voltage slightly. I recommend not going over 2.4v with your processor, unless you have excellent cooling and temperature monitoring.
Good Luck,
Robert Richmond
