anyone with this monitor experience kind of a "harsh" shutdown? Meaning: When I shut down Windows,it appears to flash the shutdown screen at a very garbled and low resolution. It works fine ,just the shutdown doesnt seem right. I tried using their (viewsonics)drivers and microsofts built in drivers to no effect. It has seen 3 different video cards (endless video drivers), 2 different motherboards, and numerous installs of windows 98se.

Anyone else get an odd looking shutdown with this monitor?

How does your startup splash screen look? Usually, when you hit Shut down, the vid goes down to 256 colors while all the apps close. As for the shutdown logos go, did you replace them with custom ones?
Something I would suggest is to go into your Device Manager and delete all the monitors and vid cards that are not physically on your system, maybe even remove the ones that are on the system and reboot to let Windows re-detect them.If that don't do the trick, you can check the shutdown logos by going to C:\Windows and right clicking on Logow.sys and selecting MS Paint to open it with. see if it looks garbled in Paint. If it does, you can get new, custom logos to replace them with at: http://www.nucleus.com/~kmcmurdo/logos

Thats exactly what it looks like. I have never seen any other machine do it before, i guess. It's not so much the logo but the whole screen

No logos have been changed. By the way when I open up that file in Paint, all i would have to do is modify the picture and save, no?

That is an animated picture, when you open it in paint, you are veiwing only one of several frames that file has. If you edit it in Paint and save the changes, only that one frame will be saved and you will no longer have an animated shut down screen. The site I have a link to in my previous post has editors for those shut down and start up screens.
