Hey all, hope this message finds all of you in high and good spirits today. Anyhow, I am going to be getting cable internet service sometime next month. The question is what stuff do I need for it to work. I have had regular modems, and just discontinued my ISDN service, so I know that I need a cable specific modem, and something for the inside of a puter, is that a NIC card? I dont have a clue, can someone in the know help a brother out? Looking for the best stuff and approximate prices. Thanks so much for your help.

The cable provider will usually have a network card available for you to purchase but you can save a lot on money buying one on your own and installing it yourself (assuming you know how to install a card in your comp).
They will supply the modem and configure your system to work with it.
You could always call your cable company and ask what they supply, and if it is all inclusive in the price of the installation. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif

BTW the install was $50 and the NIC they gave me would cost $70 if I were to go to the store and buy one. So it may not be better to go buy one yourself.

@home provided all the hardware for me. Cable modem and the NIC.
You may want to call them and find out if they provide the NIc to be sure.
