Ok guys, I know there must be a way to eliminate this. I have a PCChips board with integrated video but I axed it and instead use a Voodoo card. The thing is that whenever Windoze starts, it detects a Standard VGA Adapter and there's an exclamation point next to the device in Device Manager. I managed to stop the detecting process by supplying the device not present with it's drivers. The thing is that I don't like seeing exclamation nor question marks nor x's in my Device Manager. So question is: Is there a way to get rid of this entry and force Windows not to look for this device?
P.S. Here's a pic of my desktop showing the annoying mark...

Did you disable it in the BIOS? Is it a PCI voodoo or AGP?

It's in PCI flavor,. I have the primary adapter set to PCI. I even tried putting NO in the Plug n PLay OS but still the same results..!!!

check your bios for a setting to diable the integrated video, or look in your manual to see if it's disabled via a jumper on the mobo somewhere. If neither of these options exist, you just gotta deal with the big red "X" inwondows or the "!".

I had a PCChips board once (and ONLY ONCE) and to diable the onboard video, all I had to do was tell it to set primary adapter to PCI. Is the onboard graphics chip a SIS6***?
Cause this is an AGP chip (and a piece of ****). Have you tried deleting the voodoo3 in device manager and just upgrading the driver for the Standard PCI device?

I used to have a PCChips M598 and I added a PCI TNT card. You will never be able to remove it. You can only disable it. To do so:
- Open the properties for Standard PCI Graphics Adapter
- Check Disable in this hardware profile.
- reboot
You should now have an X beside it rather than a exclamation.
let me know how it goes.

You guys shouldnt use wallpapers as they consume resources, speacially with less than 128 MB

On that dialog box you have displayed, there is a "Remove" button. Highlight the "Standard PCI Graphics Adapter (VGA)" and click remove, or does Windows just re-install it at start-up anyway?
Without knowing anything about PCChips, I would have thought that they would have provided an option in the bios, or a jumper that could be removed to disable the onboard video.

Fingers: There's an option in the BIOS to select which primary display adapter you will choose (PCI or integrated AGP). It's set to PCI.
When I remove the Standard..etc it just comes back when I reboot!>.
Ultrakill: Wallpapers are just purty!!! heheh
gyoung: I did what you told me so now there's a BIG X!!! Oh well,....!!

Yeah the X will be there. For some reason the PCChips board doesn't let you disable the onboard video completely. The bios only lets you choose where it looks first for the video (either onboard AGP or PCI). When you change it to PCI it initialized the PCI video which overrides the AGP. The OS still sees the onboard AGP.
I always had to live with the X.
