Anybody know where I can get those *PCMCIA modem to cell phone* cables? Any sites?

Don't really know if I put this in the right forum but anyways,...

I've got this Nokia 2160 cell phone and a cellular-ready hayes optima 56k PCMCIA modem.

Would love to surf the net thru the use of a cell phone.

But couldn't find the cable anywhere.

Tried Nokia's website, but couldn't find it there.
Tried www.modemexpress.com (http://www.modemexpress.com) but no luck either as the guys there didn't reply to any of my emails. (Can anybody say poor customer service??? http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif )

Anyhow, any information provided would be greatly appreciated.

it may or may not have been what you were looking for but they had something that sounded similar to that a couple of weeks ago. regardless check it they have some good bargains on those things that are not wanted by everyone.

Check with the modem manf. Alot of the time, these connectors are custom pinouts. So a Hayes Optima might not work on a USR.

I seem to remember seeing a cell phone that had an adadter that slid right into the pcmcia(no cables). I'll see if I can find it again.

I just called Nokia and the cable for my phone is called a data cable and costs between $49 and $59. It is not modem specific from what they say. Whether or not that is true... http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif A little steep for a cable! I must say!
