System specs:
Celeron 466@ 556mhz
328 meg- 133mhz 3D ram
30gig ULTRA ATA 7200rpm SEGATE
Abit BH6 mb- running 2X AGP
Detonator 3 Drivers. Driver version 6.3.1.0
Win 2000 Proffesional
AGP Apature is set to 64
Creative 3d Blaster GeForce 2 MX (AGP 32meg DDR)Unoverclocked. 175mhz core and 286mhz memory

First problem:
When I run final reality(1.01)I get a score ranging from 4.50 to 4.87 isn't this strange and low for a geforce 2.

In 3d MArk I get a score of around 2462
But what caught my attention was that the texture fill rate (3d performance) was only 17.96, giving this 3.89marks....IS THIS PROGRAM Insane?
To comparrison my old AGP Diamond Viper v550 was getting 100 and 21.65 marks...how can a GEFORCE 2 be way slower than my old TNT1??? sorry I know this sounds stupid and unralistic but it is what it says and I am way confused

Also what AGP APATURE should I set in bias, I have done tests but keep getting phoney results ie- 4.84 3d mark with a 16meg APATURE and 4.48 3d marke with a 32 meg APATURE. Shouldn't I get a performance boost since I have 330meg ram by raising it to say 128 AGP APATURE

Unreal tournament average frames is 40 50 but jumps around heaps. This is in 1024*768 high textures, hight bot detail and 32bit colour. MAP was MOHO Are these really bad results?>

I have only have this card for 2 days and have run many tests but keep getting confused with many configuarations

THANX for listning any help in these areas would be greatly appreciated http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

As a guess I'm guessing the drivers aren't proparly installed. And it's usuing (at least pard of) your old TNT's drivers.
It's only a guess though.

System specs:
TB 800
256 mb ram
A7V
IBM 7200rpm ata100
Visiontek Geforce MX with blue orb not OC
Windows 98se

I get a score of 4180 in 3DMark

Like Bob said reinstall drivers...I also heard that video games take a hit in 2000 professional. If you have 2 HD install 98 on one and use that to play games, I bet your frames go up. Good luck.

Thanx guys, I have tried using standard drivers and the nvidia referance 3 drivers, direct X8 but there still seems to be a majoir bottleneck somewhere. I am getting half the performance compared to other with the same card and sinular system. I am beggining to wonder If I purchased a dud card. Does anyone outhere have a Creative Geforce 2 MX- Does it have a lot more to give or am I just dreaming? Also will it be much slower because I am only running AGP 2X instead of 4X?

You guys are all way low, here's what I got:

Duron650@800
256MB PC133
A7V
Prophet2 MX SDR, not OCed
Western Digital 7200RPM ATA100
Win98SE

I think it's a combination of using Win 2K and only having 2X AGP. 2X AGP really chokes the newer cards, my friend has the same problem with his Voodoo5. I believe your AGP Aperture should be set to 128, at least that's what mine is. As for your RAM, anything over 128MB isn't gonna help much. I run 256MB and that seems about right. 330MB is definitely not necessary. Your Celeron's 66Mhz FSB is also really choking you, and you can't run your ram at 133Mhz.

When you installed the D3 drivers, did you unzip them to a directory and then run the setup program? Running the setup program from WinZip really screws things up. If it was an exe file, then nevermind.

The fact is, older video cards run better with older machines, and newer video cards run better with newer machines, but switching it around is never good. I'm sure with a new mobo and CPU, you would see the performance you are looking for.

Oh yeah, I scored 5200+ in 3DMark2000

My scores used to be this low. The reason was I had AGP set to 2X. Went to 4X and got over 4100 from just over 2000. Winmark3d crashes my system alot so I don't use it. I'd prefer Q3A frame rates as the standard benchmark. I know it tests openGL not direct3d, but at least it has never crashed my system. They should fix that benchmark or use a different one if those guys at madonion can't get it together.

800Tbird, A7V, 262MB Infineon at 143MHz 2-2-2, Visiontek MX, 30GB IBM 7200 ATA100.

I've got somewhat of the same problem. I can't get the max out of my card.

PIII 600
Abit VT6X4 (4x agp isn't stable)
128 megs 100mhz/8ns cas2 ram
Maxtor 20 gig UDMA 100/66 hard drive
Geforce 2 GTS PRO (-overclocked- 220 core 455 memory)

3DMark score 5200

My processor is a bottleneck but my score should be way higher then it is regardless.

Well all of your scores are for sure way highter than mine.

So I bit the bullet, scrambled together some cash and bought a celeron 700 overclocked @860mhz. This at least raise my bus to about 83 I think

And my score is still a low 2950 3d marks
My FPS in UT is only about 50 to 60 in MOJO level, 32bit, 1024x768, hight deltail and high bot detail

So I thought maybee its the drivers, I did a formatt and I still have the same low score---*sigh*--- http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/frown.gif so the only other thing I can think of is to go out and by a new mb. Gez then I will have in a an accidental way built an entire computer. Is this my last resort?. Also what options should I have ticked under dertonator 3 drivers to gain best performance? shouch as anti alising and so ion...

thanx for input!

i built a duron 700, geforce2 mx, 128 megs of ram and agp 4x, it got 4464 in 3dmark2000

yeah the 440bx chipset is showing its age, but you are having problems that you souldnt be. mine is more than fast enough for me to love it

I am using the BE6 (same chipset) and I put out a score of 4970. Something isn't right. That is a really low score, Esp. with the 700 Cel. your running at 83 FSBx 10.5= 875MHz. From what I read everything looks good though. neo_otyugh Cool site! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
