I'm looking for this Nvidia chipset card, but having trouble finding one. I used to buy diamond video cards all the time, but I'm weary about their new company. What manufacturers are worth buying the GEFORCE2 GTS from? 64mb DDR.

Don't get the 64MB version of the regular GTS. It's a huge waste of money. If you really want 64MB might as well add a little and get the PRO but not the Ultra as again huge waste of money. Regular 32 MBGTS is $160 now. Pro is $270.

I tend to agree with those comments. Prices are lower now. I saw a GTS PRO for $270 and Ultra for $400. If you want to pay $130 for what looks like extra 10fps, then go ahead. PRO can be overclocked to close to Ultra's performance. Ultra will get noticable over a PRO at 1600 x 1200 otherwise they are very close. To summarize if you need 64MB then PRO is the best choice, otherwise 32MB GTS is unbeatable at $160. I have the MX right now and there isn't a game out there that doesn't play great on it with my 800tbird.

So yes $400 for a card that will not even be the fastest next spring seems like a waste of money to me. But I am a college student so maybe my money management is different then some here. Games are not developed with the fastest graphics cards in mind.

I wonder why you are all so worried about speed in your videocard. Yes more fps is good... to a point. Once you go over 75 fps you are really overkilling. The eye can't tell the difference between 75 adn 85, AROUND 75 is the top speed. Although some CLAIM that something like 100 frames is smoother i doubt it becuase your moniter isnt running at 100 hz and if it was your eyes could only pick up 75-80 frames. What you want to look for in a video card is picture quality and as long as its able to run at about 50 frames per second (or higher to 75) at whatever res your looking for go for that one. I've been told the picture quaility on the voodoo5 5500 is MUCH better than any g-force. Also that the ATi raidon was good pic quaility and speed. Another intresting thing i was thinking about: what about slow-motion. With slow motion you are seeing LOTS of frames per second..being displayed at lower fps by the moniter. So technically i guess you could have 100 fps on your games but you would see in slow motion and the data would be travling in real time which mean you die. Also one last thing. Make sure your moniter is running at about 75 hz and that it is NON-interlaced. Interlaced moniters electron gun's shoot the odd lines first and then shoot the even lines on the second pass.
