Hihi all,

I am planning to upgrade my old voodoo banshee to a new Geforce MX within my budget.

My system config is as follows:

Celeron 300a@504 on a BH6 mainboard v1.01
128Mb SDRAM
8Gb harddisk
17 inch monitor

However, I am afraid that after the upgrade, the performance will only increase a little (just 10% to 20%) during 3d gaming. Thus, I want some suggestions or experiences on this issues.
Please kindly give me some advice.

Thanks for many times !!!!!!

Best Regards,
Antracene

I would say go for it! I upgraded from a voodoo 3 3000 PCI card to the creative annihilator 2 MX DDR on my PIII 600@744 and was amazed at how much the graphics improved on games. And the V3 3000 is a good step up from the Banshee. While you may be CPU limited, as far as speed goes, I think you will be more than satisfied with the performance of a Geforce 2 MX. I can also vouch for the performance of the A-Open version available from mwave.com for $109 + shipping. Rock solid and looks great. If you get either one of the above cards, don't be concerned about "poor 2D" performance, unless you plan on running higher resolution than 1024x768. That is where I run mine and they look fine.
