Hi,
I'm have a GigaByte GA-5SMM board with onboard sound and video. The video seemed to work intermittently and now, not at all.
When booting up, the power supply fan comes on, power LED, HD LED, and CD-ROM lights come on. I receive no video signal at all. I know the computer has paused because the computer does not load as there is no action on the hard drive. I've checked the speaker and speaker connections, but everything seems to be OK.
I believe if I get the video back, I can disable the onboard video in the BIOS so I can add a PCI video card. Is this possible or am I wasting my time?

thanks in advance!

It's dead buddy. At least it sound like it. I'm guessing dying power supply or it's not getting enough power to your PC. But. Before going out and buying one. Unplug the cd-rom and floppy drive. It might have enough power to boot. If that dowsn't work. take all addon cards, the CPU, and memory out. Then try putting the CPU back in. Turn on the PC. Does it beep? If not take it out. Put in the memory. Does it beep? If so it was the CPU. Do varients on that procedure. I'm still guessing it's the power supply!
