I've noticed some video cards have video and/or S-video out jacks on them (Voodoo 3 3000 for example). I gather some gamers tape games this way, but does this mean you can use a TV for your computer monitor?

You sure can! The question is, do you really want to? Your average TV (HDTV excepted) is interlaced, which means that pixels will bleed into each other, making things rather blurry. For games, movies, or non-text applications, this is fine, but trying to read text will destroy your eyes.

you wont want to use your tv unless your watching movies or playing games....if you dont plan on doing any of that stuff....you dont need to get a video card w/ svideo out
