I have a ACER 6120 with pent 2 400mhz and 128 meg Ram. I was told the
mother board is plug and play only, meaning their is no way to disable
it in CMOS setup. The AGP slot always takes IRQ 9, then their is 3 pci
slots below it. I had a DSL internal modem below TNT2 Ultra that used
IRQ9 also. (I was told that I could not have 2 devices using IRQ 9, even
though computer says no conflicts???).The next pci slot had Sound
Blaster Live with sometimes IRQ 5 and 10 taken up. The last bottom slot
had my voodoo2 in it, which is the only slot that would let the long
board fit, I noticed the voodoo2 does not use a IRQ ???(by the way is
their a pci extension?). So then I took voodoo2 out and put Soundblaster
live in 2nd pci slot (IRQ 5 and IRQ 10)and DSL modem in 3rd pci slot
(IRQ 11) and left the 1 st pci slot below the AGP slot empty. Well
thinking this fixed the problem , now I have a empty slot and a voodoo2
card on the shelf. But while writing this letter I checked IRQ numbers
for reference now things have changed the AGP TNT2 Ultra is taking IRQ 9
and the Sound blaster Live is taking IRQ 9 NOOOOO!!!!! and the DSL is
taking IRQ10 now. I am stumped???? Anyone have any ideas please reply.
Remember though acer told me there is no way to turn off auto plug and
play in CMOS Setup. Thanks.
