I was considering getting one of the 2 GF MX cards I've seen down at my local Best Buy. The Annilelator and the Prophet for $129 & $149 respectively. But thank goodness I didn't fall for either one, 'cause now I see what seems to be an outrageously great deal on pricewatch:
Visiontek GeForce2 GTS
- DDR MEMORY,
- AGP 4X,
- 32MB DDR MEMORY,
- OEM,
- 1 YEAR WARRANTY
-» $152.00
Am I missing something? Or is this just a sweet deal?
Even if this card is the dog of the GTS's, it's still bound to out perform the MX's. And bare in mind I'm upgrading from a TNT2, so any GF card is quite a step up for me.
Think I should go for this card? Or would the Inno3D Tornado GeForce 2 GTS be more attractive at $156.00?

Most definitly a sweet deal.
I have gone thru a GTS and a MX (w/ TBird 1Ghz). I play games at 1024x768x32. On the Inno3D MX, Its just that, highest quality everything else, and I can pull off about 60FPS on about everything. On the Leadtek GTS, I can set it at that, highest everything, and FSAA 1.5x1.5, and keep up about 60FPS.
I think the Inno3d might come with better RAM than the Visiontek..not sure at all about this, but its something to check out.

Just a warning:
Just because the price is low doesn't mean it's a great buy. When I looked up prices for my parts, I found low prices, but on going to www.pricewatch.com (http://www.pricewatch.com) I saw that all the vendors with low prices also had a fairly bad track record. I chose vendors that had good records even if their prices may have been a little higher. Beware.

the ddr mx does not perform as well as the sdr in every benchmark i have seen
the ddr is 64bit and the sdr is 128 bit. so even though you got ddr memory it is choked off badly.
i currently have a leadtek oem geforce 2 mx i got it for $118 a fewmonths back and love it. in Counter Strike i rarley get less than 80 fps and its not even overclocked yet. btw i play at 128x960 in opengl 16bit color.
i dont think that is a good deal when the inno3d card can be had for as low as $90 and will outperform the ddr card in most cases.

uh, neo, these are GTS cards, not MX. They both certainly seem like a good deal to me. Or at least I've not been able to find any GTS cards for any cheaper.
