Prob with GeForce2 MX in Win ME.

I've got a new install of Win ME and my GeForce2 MX is giving me probs. I get Blue Screen of Death errors when running DXdiag.exe and also when trying to run EverQuest.

I've tried the Det2 And Det3 drivers as well as the card manf's drivers and all the same.

I've reverted to my TNT2 for the time being and it's ok.

Anyone having similar or any ideas here ?

You have the latest DirectX installed? (7.0a?)

I have an MX and ME w/ Det3's, and mine works fine, so its not a compatability issue.

I have the DX7 that Win ME installed, when I tried to re-install with 7a it wouldn't let me, saying I had a later version (?)

I imagine there's a way to go into registry and elete something to allow a re-install but I have no idea where.

No, don't do that. Win ME's Direct X version is the NEWEST version out there. The one that you find on microsoft.com is the 7.0a, which indeed, is older.

Since it is not a Direct X problem, it can be a driver problem, or a game options problem. Check your drivers (be sure to unistall previous drivers properly), and also check the options setting in the game. If needed, visit the game's creator website and look for problems related to the newest video cards.

By the way, which drivers do you use, and which MX card do you have? I also have Win ME and a Hercules MX, and have no problems at all, except ONE game where I get lockups, but this is probably due to the game (I still have to look into this).
