I am running a HP 8100 CD Writer Plus with a Creative 24X CD rom. Win 98 with 64 mb RAM, two WD harddrives. Both CDs are slaved to a separate harddrive. My problem is that my CD Writer will not copy audio. When I try a copy either in Direct Copy, CD Spin Dr., or whatever way my computer always freezes when I try to copy audio files, regardless if I try to copy to my harddrive first. I have done a diagnostic and the CD writer checks out OK. HP and Adaptec have not come up with satisfactory fixes to my problem. I have upgraded my software to Easy CD Creator 4 and this does not fix the problem. Any suggestions?

It might be b/c of your system configuration. You often have problems with cd-roms slaved to hdds. I would move the secondary hdd to slave on the primary IDE and slave the CD-RW behind the cd-rom. That should help out. You won';t see a perfomrance hit on the slaved hdd. I have the 8110i and it does audio fine with both Adaptec and Nero.
Good luck
