Heya, i bought a voodoo2 ages ago, and since my latest problems with it ( detailed further down the page ) i have decided to upgrade.. Since i am sick of constant tinkering with my graphics card i was wondering which graphics card ( in your opinion ) has the easiest ease of use? i meard the Geforce2 was good?

Well in my experience, 3DFX cards are the easiest to set up. When I got my Voodoo3 2000 it was a very quick driver install, then every game liked it instantly. I think it is the same with the voodoo5. You don't have to stuff around, FSAA works instantly too. My Geforce, althought a kickass card, has more problems, and some games concentrate solely on Glide, which annoys me to no end. OpenGL is better than Glide anyways.

I got a Viper II a few months ago, and for me, it has been the easiest card to set up and use that I've owned. I just stuck it in, loaded the latest drivers, and it has performed flawlessly ever since.
I upgraded from a Voodoo 3 3000, which was also pretty easy to set up, but required too much fiddling with resolution settings on newer, more graphically intense games.
With the Viper, I just crank all the settings to the max, set the res to 1024x768 or 1280x1024 (my preferred resolutions) and forget about it.
I've heard and read nightmare stories about every video card made on every system imaginable, so it's a gamble no matter what card you choose.
For the most part, all you can do when you load a new game is hold your breath and pray that everything works as advertised! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

I have to agree with lost1 about the ViperII.
I just finished three new 440BX based systems. One had an Asus V6800 Deluxe, one a Matrox G400Max and one had a Voodoo3-3000.
To my disappointment none of the systems looked or performed as well as my old one with a lowly ViperII card.
Bought three OEM Vipers (US$89) and dumped the other cards. The Vipers worked instantly in two of the machines, but no video in the MSI BXMaster. Not compatable. I ordered another Aopen M/B and the Viper is happily playing away.
This card takes alot of flack in this forum but with the new drivers from S3, it does all I want and for the money it is a great value.
Good luck in your choice! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
