Hi needd some help i bought a Voodoo3 to put in my Compaq 5000 system is Windows ME, celeron 633mhz. I need to know what i do to install it do i need to disable the onboard video? In my old Compaq it caused it to crash and they replaced it with this computer. I went to Compaq's Web-site but as usual no help there. So i am relying on the knowledeable people here. Thanks in advance. Oh by the way i also have a soundblaster Xgamer card i woould lie to put in it any help is greatly appreciated.

Well, you should look in your motherboard manual to see if there is a jumper to disable the onboard video! If there's nothing about a jumper for the onboard video in the manual, go to the BIOS (usually by pressing the delete key at bootup) and look under primary display adapter. That selection includes an option for booting using AGP or PCI (I'm guessing that your voodoo is PCI and your onboard video is AGP). Choose PCI and connect the monitor to the Voodoo.

And just pray its not like a few Compaq's that DON'T work with v3.
I wonder if compaq ever correced that in their bios on those models
