I'm going to get oine of the above cards but got a few questions.
What is te main differnce between the two?
What is the difference between the oem and retail of the two boards?
i can get a 2000 oem for £56 or retail for £69 which is the same price as the oem 3000.
Is it just the software bundle which is making the difference.
Cheers

One is a little faster than the other. You might not see the difference.

I believe the difference between the oem version and the retail version is just the packaging. The retail version comes with the box you see in the stores but costs more usually. The oem is what they usually sell in bulk to manufacturers and does not come in the retail box this is usually cheaper but if you want to use a rebate you usually need the retail version's box upc. I hope this helps.

the 2000 runs at 144MHz chip and memory the 3000 runs at 166MHz

the only diff between the oem and retail is the warranty oem 90 days at the store ya bought it from (mabey)? retail 1 to 3 years from manufacture ? and the software bundle / box it comes in.

I buy OEM save a few $ pluse if it does not fry when ya but it in most likly it will last a very long time http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif if your nice to it http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

Hi,

That's what I believe too. But the last post of Gossamer scared me! I don't know if this applies only for GeForce cards but after I read the thread "GeForce2 MX: Buyers Beware" I hesitate to buy OEM anymore. Some times you just buy in blindness and the only one who really knows what you bought is the manufacturer and only him! If anyone knows something about OEM being "lower quality" products than the retail, please post.

so far the only ones I know about is the one you stated above and the ATI OEM cardsare underclocked from retail.

3DFX does not do that all there cards run at what they say they run at http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif
