Hey everyone, for whatever reason, my intellimouse has stopped moving up and down... If i press really hard, then it'll work, but that's not realistic. I play lots of online games FPS and RTS, so a good mouse is important to me.
suggestions???
thanks

My vote is definitly for the Intellieye mouse. The explorer looks & feels a little bulky to me but I guess everyone has their favorite. I've had mine for a little over two months now and it's tracking as well now as it was the very first time I used it. It's just plain NICE not to have to worry about cleaning the thing. For games such as QIII and UT it rocks!

i play on a lan quite alot i'm the only one with a mouse with no ball. and do you know what else i'm the only one who doesn't get shot s**t out of because my mouse had dirt in it and wouldn't move.
These things are 100% reliable just don't use them on shiny things. hell i use it on my leg when i'm short of space.
I used to use teh Logitech wheel mouse, then I broke it playing games.
I tried the intellimouse pro, once! I took it back the second day after that. It had a bad problem "jumping" to a totally unpredictable direction when moved to fast, and I move the mouse pretty fast in Q2/Q3.
I then bought a Logitech Cordless mouseman wheel...great mouse, but if you turn at the same time you click a button, it "freze frames" your turning motion instantaneously, so not good for FPS either. It's on my server now, just because I don't have to move across the room to use the server PC (cordless is good for some things!)
I think the best mouse for gaming, at the high end is the BoomSlang, 1000DPI. The next best is the A4Tech, very smooth, light and excellant response, just ignore the drivers it ships with (it has 2 wheels, but without their drivers, they both act as the same scroll wheel)...plus it's usually less than $10 at computer shows!
Thats what I think...and if anyone wants to see just how my mouse works with games, let me know, and we'll do a little Quaking! ( err...you'll likely be fragged to bits! )

I hate the intelli eye explorer....it is too small for my hands.......and I think it feels very cheaply made........plus I noticed problems with high FPS sensetivity too.....this is just my opinion,it is not right or wrong...............
I have a logitech gaming mouse and it rocks IMO......I am getting a razor boomslang soon hopefully though.

I use the Logitech Mouseman plus..a huge mouse in its own, but I tryed the explorer, and i HATED it! I used a Intellimouse before the Logitech, and I liked that too. If I were to buy a new mouse, I would get the Intellimouse w/ intellieye. The Intellimouse is a very simple design, but is very well built. The Logitech's wheel feels kinda cheap, but its a nice mouse, although big. The Microsoft mice have the best wheel in my opinion, perfect for desktop scrolling, surfing, or gaming.

I have a Kensington scroll mouse and I loves it, but got Logitech zoom/scroll for the other computers and it works fine too. Try to avoid Microsoft products myself http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif my $.02

I have been seriously looking at the Razer Boomslang as well and I think that it is a great looking mouse!!!
Go here and you can see the mouse and do the demo test that they have!!!

Thanks for all of the responses, I didn't see anythinng that I didn't expect to see though, so that's probably good. I'll probably end up with either the boomslang, or one of the intellieye thingies... My brother has the explorer and he really likes it.
I've been using just a straight intellimouse for the last 2.5 years, and I think that it's just great, but not being able to look up or down is pissing me off so much I can't help it.
As I read through this stuff though, I got to wondering... How often do you all replace your mouse? I consider it to be one of the most important aspects for online gaming, but lots of people don't....
anyway... thanks for the responses, we'll see what happens

The two mice that have the intellieye are the Microsoft Intellimouse and the Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer. I can personally vouch for the Explorer. It's big, has two extra, handy buttons and just plain looks cool http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif.
I also do gaming and having a mouse WITHOUT a ball is the best way to go. I have been killed sooooooooooooo many times because there has been **** in my ball.

My vote goes to the Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer, because it looks so cool, and it seems to work fairly well too!
In terms of replacing my mouse, I don't usually replace them until they are too broken to use... although this summer I picked up a scroll mouse for no reason.
