Right now I have a p3 533EB, 128 megs of pc133, and a tnt2 pro. Im looking to upgrade around christmas time, so that I can get stuff from my parents. What I wanted to know, is should i get a new video card or cpu. My mobo (S1854) supports up to a gigahertz. I mainly play games and am planning to play halo and tribes2.

My board supports a mult of 8 with a 133 bus which would equal a gigahertz. However, on the tyan site they list that it goes to 866. Ill have to find out which. Im going to save up now and maybe get a card out of my parents and buy a proc on my own. btw, how long would a 1ghz and geforce2 last?

you mean in regards to technology updates? A good long time...I have an ati rage fury and a p3 450, and I dont see myself upgrading for at least naother year. with a gig you will be good for a long while. The geforce really hasnt even been stretched to its limits as far as games are concerned.

Depends, what are you planning on upgrading to? Because if its a choice between a gig proc and a geforce, im gonna have to go with the gig. My answer would depend on what your upgrade options are.

i once had an old pI 133 and i bought a voodo II for it and the hole system felt brand new and twice as fast.
Same as when i upgraded my hard drive to ata 2 66 unreal tournement loads up in about 5 seconds.
it always pays to upgrade the small things to get the most noticable difference. If you upgrade your cpu i dont think youls even notice unless your talking about more than 4 or 5 hunfred mghz, and even then youve got to have a good 3d card
