I wanna install a display card
<Pixel View Riva TNT2M64 (32MB) ****PCI version******> but failed.
It prompt a window told me that " Windows Protection Error " and then it told me to restart my PC.
I used to go to the manufacturer's homepage to download the latest version but it still failed and told me that "Window Protection Error"
I think the main reason is that I haven't got a file called

nvdisp.inf

So my PC cannot detect the dislay card.

Do you have the file mentioned above? Or it has another reason that caused the failure?
Please advise.

(my mainboard is MagicPro MP-586THX, OS is Windows98SE)

Thanks very much for your help.

That file is part of the drivers package for yer card.

If ya start it up, install those drivers, even if it doesn't recognize the card.

Could be that when ya then restart it, that it will recognize it then.

You can find reference drivers at www.reactorcritical.com (http://www.reactorcritical.com)
