What is the recommended wattage for a Anthlon 700 with all the basic components?

Thanks in advance!

http://www1.amd.com/athlon/power

I've got a generic 300w, and it works great. I'd definately recommend a 300w. Even though the Athlon works with 250w power supplies, some vid cards need that extra wattage to run stable in an Athlon system.

Are you oc'in? Peltiers, fans or somethin?

It should work if you have a .18 athlon, cd, hdd, floppy. Any more drives, and I wouldn't use it. Honestly, I'd be scared to use a 230, but it should WORK. Just don't be surprised if it burns out though.

Mark,

It's not that you need *all* 300 Watts of the power supply. The Athlon has a more demanding current requirement of the +5 and +3.3 outputs, and the increased current demand forces the power supply into the 300W class. You can probably get by quite nicely with a 250W P/S if you don't have a lot of goodies in the system or a power-hog video adapter (as someone else has mentioned), but a 230W supply will only cause you grief. [Notice that AMD only has tested/recommended one 235w unit and it squeaks by because it meets the 5/3.3V combined output power rating!!] You'll get transient output voltage dips and the resultant computer crashes... I'd personally spend the extra loot on a 300W unit.

I GREATLY APPRECIATE ALL YOUR RESPONSES. I'll be ordering a 300w power supply as a result. Again I'm thinking "what would I do without the Internet!"

Mark, no problem... the nice thing about this bb is, while there are a few who know A LOT, there are a lot of people, like me, who know a a very little. You can piece together a lot from the various voices you'll hear (see....)
