Hey all,

tell me what kind of (un)video card you have. Why did you select your cheap card? I'm curious as to what kind of video card people have in their gaming machines. Don't tell me you have an outdated card on a new 'power machine'

I built my current computer a while ago.. since then i have upgrade the CPU, bought a scsi burner, a dvd drive, a new sb live, and a new 19" monitor.

The graphics card is only a TNT 16meg.. that is one of the next things on my list to get. It is still quite playable for most of the current games. Just gonna hold out a little bit longer for those GTS prices to come down.. heh

I have a blazing Trident/512Kb/ISA video card.....I'm not using it, it's sitting right above me on a shelf in a box. It use to come in handy for trouble shooting problems computers but not anymore because there's no more ISA bus (hardly).

And currently, of course I'm impressed with the GeForce2's, and this new ATI card looks promising, but my trusty ol' Viper v770/TNT2 is still doing right by me. I can play any game I choose at 1024x768 resolution and thoroughly enjoy the experience. I think I'll stick with it for some time yet.

The video cards are going to have to impress me just a bit more before I'm gonna be willing to blow $200+ on one.

I'm, uh, still running an ISA video card in one of my three systems here... Yeah I know, but you use what you've got right? http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

My main system has an onboard Sis 6326 (garbage) which I disabled for a Voodoo 3 2000 PCI. Now I can actually play a Sysopt Unreal Tournament match, if that still happens around here...

I opened up my old 386 a week or two back, set on jacking the power supply. In the computer, I found an old 256K ISA (NOT EISA) video card. What a joke. I was thinking about putting it in my 875 Mhz monster, but decided it wasn't worth laughing over.

The oldest card I have laying around is an Intel i740 8 meg AGP. It was the first true AGP 2x card, and offers about enough performance to play GL-Quake.

As for right now, I'm kicking along with a TNT-2 @ 165/249 and a reference model GeForce-2 MX card @ 175/195 (can't say anymore about that right now :-) ).

Running a Viper 2 in mine.
The price was right and it rocks in all my games.
Made retiring my reliable old Voodoo 3 3000 a little easier...

I have a CL Geforce DDR 32MB in mine. Superb card, and to answer your question, Prancer, I chose it because I thought in spite of extravangant pricing it could give me a year to 18 months of good gaming performance, and is [after 7 months!] still nowhere near having been taken to the limits of its potential, and perhaps it is surprising in this climate of graphics card releases as the Geforce 256 has been around since before Christmas http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif I know that I'd be silly to throw money away on a Geforce 2, or even a Radeon 256 because the performance increases would be negligible. However, I may upgrade once the NV-20 comes along if I can raise the money, and replace my other system's TNT2 M64 with the DDR Geforce, as it'll probably be struggling by November http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/wink.gif

From S3 Trio64 1mb to TNT 16mb to GTS 32mb DDR
Not a bad upgrade path eh?
