I got an A-trend TNT2 m64 AGP card, and I am having trouble with the drivers, I can't get decent performance in Half-Life in higher resolutions, and Quake 3 locks up my machine, something that my previous card did not do (creative Graphics Blaster TNT 16mb pci). The card runs great and all but does not work well in games. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I use the 377 reference drivers with my M64. A game as old as half life, there shouldn't be any problem. (that is, as long as your processor is up to par) I run HL at 1024x768 (because that's as high as my monitor will go) and there isn't the slightest bit of slowdown at all.
The lock up in Q3 could be an AGP problem. For some reason AGP cards are more power hungry (or something like that) and can lock up your system very well.
What sort of motherboard and processor are you using??

I am using a TYAN S1598 SS7 w/ a k6-2 500 non-oc. 256MB pc100 ram.
Pretty good board, best S7 IMHO.
I'll try the reference drivers you suggested, but I still have to find a solution for openGL.

dbigman you need opengl95.exe (self extracting opengl drivers)for that tnt2

I am using Win98SE, isn't this supposed to come with the opengl drivers allready?

I downloaded the opengl drivers you suggested... I have these allready! I was using a Creative Graphics Blaster TNT 16MB PCI and it worked with ALL my games!

your cpu is an k6-2??
oh that doesnt sound good to me!
i have the same problems with my k6!
the agp slot on socket 7 boards have a small problem with newer graphic cards. the power consumption of these cards it too high! the mainboard can not supply the card with the needed power what causes system locks. i saw a gigabyte ga5a without this problem but my p5a wont work even with a tnt1.
try to raise the voltage on your mobo from 3,3v to 3,6 if its possible. this could help.
unfortunately this is a great bug of nearly all socket 7 boards but no manufacturer talks about it.
i´m sorry!

Nope, I really think it's drivers. How come I can play stuff in direct 3d, but not in opengl??? I'll try the voltage change anyway.
Anybody know if voodoo4 works well with socket7??

i really hope for you that you have a driver problem but i couldnt manage! i tried about 4 different socket 7 mobos and 5 different tnts. nothing worked. quake hangs after a minute and unreal needs a bit longer. windows hangs too if you raise the resolution and the colour depth.
good luck

Screw it man, I'm getting a Voodoo4. My card sucked ***, I didn't get to use it. I miss my old Graphics Blaster TNT.
It's back to eBay to look for another card... sigh.
