Hi,
I just built my own computer using the Asus P3V4X motherboard which supports 4X AGP mode. I installed the Creative Annihilator 2 (Geforce 2) card into the mother board and the software (neither the display director or teh blaster control) will allow me to change teh speed of the AGp port ot 4X. I have tried everything (going through the bios and changning the AGP mode to 4X) but it will still say 2X and it won't allow me to change it to 4X because it is grayed out! Can anyone please help me on dis???

See of you have a BIOS setting for AGP 4x transfers. Some VIA Pro133A boards do. It must be enabled before you can use the Creative drivers or AGP Wizard to set the AGP transfer rate to 4x.
Good Luck,

yea, I have set the AGP mode inthe bios to 4X but it still won't allow me to set it to 4X. I'll try the AGp wizard thing though but i doubt it will work.

Nevermind, the AGP wizard doesn't support Creative Annihilator 2.

Have you tried the latest 5.32 nVidia reference drivers? You can enable AGP 4x through a hack for VIA chipset boards. Here's more info:

Theres really no point in enabling it though, it will give almost no preformance boost and on some mobos causes some problems

But 4x sounds sooooo much cooler than 2x doesn't it! http://sysopt.earthweb.com/forum/smile.gif

When I first installed my GTS I too had the problem of having the 4x slot grey. I loaded the newest BIOS and 4-in-1 drivers for my motherboard and it no longer was grey. It also set it to 4x upon install.
Are you running an updated BIOS and drivers for your boards?
Currently running the detonator2's..

yea i have installed teh 4 in 1 driver and the bios is the most updated. the thing is that the blaster control will detect teh 4x AGP but if i use the display director software, the 4X AGP mode will still be grayed out. Im using the blaster control now but i wanna know why now the display detector software won't detect my 4X agp. and is there rearlly dat much of a difference in a 4X than a 2x?

At this time, the only real performance difference applicable can only be obtained through synthetic benchmark testing. Actual game performance difference will be less than five percent.

you will get no more xtra performance.
set your card to 1x then set it two 2 times.
see the difference.
i thought not.
well why try 4x, the video cards do not really use it yet.
its just pr.
