Came home from work today to find a shiney new 6 week old golden haired Labrador dog
running around the house. As a matter or fact he's in lap right now checking out my computer. The cats are furious, but they'll have to deal with it. Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

how about "Sunny" ... it fits his color of hair, and is also a techie pun (Sun microsystems, if you haven't guessed).

and plus, it brightens up any room when he enters (if not because of the glare off his shiny coat, then simply because of how you subconciously think of him; as a "sun", or source of light).

hope i could help ya out... and BTW... whose choice was it to get this dog? http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif (though i am sure you're happy about it either way.)

Cute puppy,

Here are some tips:
-->give him/her a name if u haven't already
-->take him for morning walks every day (1/2 mile to mile, or more)
-->make sure he has all of his shots and has been checked @ your local animal clinic
-->make sure his food bowl is full every day, (clean it out @ night)
-->same thing goes for his water bowl,
-->make sure he has a collar with a tag on it(the tag should have his/her name, your address & phone number)
-->give him a bath atleast once a month (this might depend on where u live), u may want to give a flea bath too.
-->take him for walks @ night too
-->make sure he has a dog house, or a nice comfortable place to sleep @ night (bring him in if temperatures outside go below 50 degrees F
-->later on, when he fully develops his/her teeth, get 'em a bone or somethin to chew on,(most of the time this will prevent him from chewin on somethin else, ie. ur shoes, furniture, etc.)
-->potty train the dog (most important!)
-->make sure he doesn't play on the computer (hehe)
-->AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST, Give Him/Her Lots & Lots of Love!!!!

Enjoy ur new pet!

"Jed" as in Clampett, one of my heroes, right up there with A.Einstein. It's easy to holler too. Never name your animal with a seven syllable name,, think about it,, Come Here "CeramicMetalOxideVerticalFieldEffectTransistor" sing that out six times and you'll pass out. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

How 'bout "Nugget"? Ya know like gold nugget.

Or "Bullion"

Or "Oscar" (Oscar's are gold aren't they?)

But my all time favorive name for a dog is:
Diogé - pronounced dEˇňˇjE, also pronounced like saying the letters "D", "O", "G". hehe. I love that.

Well... sorry to be a party-pooper but I'm really not very creative when it comes to names... http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif I rack my brains to think of names for just my comps. I haven't even named my car and I've had it almost 6 months.. And I don't have a pet, unfortunately. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/frown.gif

I do like alot of the suggestions above. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif

But a hearty congrats on the new furry addition to your family.. a dog is one of the most wonderful companions a person can have, IMO.

CONGRATULATIONS, PICKEL!!!

When I was still living at home (eons ago), we had a yellow Lab named Jake (Frolican Jazzy Jake) and he was the best dog ever! I still miss him terribly. I know your new addition will be as loving as Jake was! By the way, they are the ultimate con artists! They always seem to get their way and make you think it was your idea!

'ow 'bout...K9.com?

or Dot Com Dog

or IPO (initial puppy offering)

hmmmmmm......oh, here's another good one:

Name him "Stay". Then when you call him it'll be like "Come'here Stay." "Come here Stay." "Come here!!! Stay."

But in the end it probably doesn't matter...he'll just asume his name is "No!" or maybe "Outside?" or possibly "Down!!!".

passed out right under my computer chair.
She put a Big Ben wind up clock in a pillow case to keep him company. He's just a little angel now but a minute ago he was biting my toes and doing chase your tail thing. He follows my granddaughter all around . Ihope they both grow up together big friends,. Still no name but will keep you posted.

How about "Gigo?" Pronounced "gee go". My CS teacher a long time ago used to say "GIGO!" whenever we had problems with our programs. It stands for "garbage in, garbage out." Kinda appropriate for a dog too.

My yellow lab is Dylan DaVillan and he lives up to his name. Also have 2 black labs, Jesse James and Samantha Starr. Had to put Frank James down 2 years ago right after his mother Amber Belle. My favorite name I saw at a Dog show, Sunray Samantha Honeybun.

Congratulations on your new friend. You'll love him.

Dogs are my favorite! Had a grey dog when I was growing up we names smokey http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif Then came butch the pit bull ( we sent him back he was mean), followed by a doberman pinscher that was a great guard dog and then finally gingerbell the basset hound, the most lovable of all. I cannot wait to get my house built so I can get a new poochie! I vote for nugget. Congratz on your new life-long friend!

If his character is similar to other young Golden Retrievers I've seen, "Goofy" would be appropriate. http://www.sysopt.com/forum/wink.gif
Goldmine ?
or even....... Coppermine?
