Next you need to partition and format. Stick in your boot disk, reboot and when it comes up fit 'shift-F5' to go to a DOS prompt. Type 'FDISK', say yes to large disk support for drives larger than 2 GB, chose option 5 and chose drive 2. Hit escape if it prompts you to, then choose option 1 (add primary partition). If you want it to be the max size just go with the flow and you won't need to change anything else. You can either format in dos at the a: prompt by typing format d: (if this is the drive you just added, change letter if necessary) or you can format it in Windows by right clicking and choosing format. This is all assuming that you are using Win9x. Good luck Dave [This message has been edited by daveleau (edited 03-20-2000).] Apostle 83 03-20-2000, 10:44 PM Well, you didn't give much information, but here's the basic jist. You need (generally) an open IDE slot. Standard newer systems ship with four. So if you have say, a cd rom, hdd, and a zip, you could only have one more media reader/writer unless you got a new controller. I'll assume you have a cdrom and a hdd only. 1) buy one! 2) Follow instructions, you'll probably want to set it as slave to your master hdd. 3) Win98 is pretty good about this stuff, it will auto detect and install. Most stuff will ship with pretty good instructions, you just gotta do it! Thats all Im gonna say, don't wanna waste my time n find out you've got nt or linux! SysOpt.com
