Yes, there are some well known problems with nVidia cards and some Socket-7 chipsets. Especially if you are using an AGP card. I had a problem with a TNT2 and MVP3 Socket-7 chipset and I finally gave up and got a Celeron w/ 440BX. That seemed to solve the problem, and my system is overall worlds better than before. But it cost me some money. I don't know what to say for you other than you could do what I did, or get another vid card...

I got a temporary solution which could be cheaper....goto your dxdiag ( you should have DX7.0 installed.) then under Display , disable AGP . That should solve the D3D problem. As for OpenGL , what i've done is installed Sci Tech GLDirect , it translates the OpenGL Calls into D3D ones and works great for Quake , Q2 and *ESPECIALLY* Quake3 and UT !! This is only a temporary solution and will reduce the actual performance you should be getting from an AGP card . Good luck .... it really works....
