I'm working on a friend's system right now, who wants some additional cooling. I'm wondering what are the CONS of having more intake fans than out take fans, AND Vice versa...

Any help is greatly appreciated.

This isn't really a problem, but I'm just wondering if it IS a problem, why.

It really shouldn't matter. Just try to get a good flow going. The main thing to watch out for is that you don't short circuit the flow. By that I mean make sure that the air is flowing over the things you want it to like the cpu. I have seen people put an intake fan in the lower front of the case, and an exhaust fan in the lower back of the case(a slot cooler) Thus the air came in the front and went straight across and out. The cpu never saw any of the cool air. IMHO the ideal situation is two intake fans at the bottom of the case. One on the front and one on the back. Then have one or two large exhaust fans on the top of the case blowhole style.

bdog is quite right. Make sure that there is air going across the CPU, as that is the whole point of it.

Bottom front in, top back out. If you use an agp video card, keep the first pci slot open. Put a slot fan there. Put a 60-80+ mm fan at the front of the case on the botton. Face it right at your CPU. Also, make sure you have a decent size heat sink. (You may want to lapp the processor and heat sink, if so you can find a link on my page to a great site for this!) Don't forget the thermal grease.

Good Luck In All...

Your saying I should toss my Slot Exhausters?
I have a 80mm fan right beside the CPUs, right below the Powersupply, and an 80mm on the bottom.
I have the bottom on intake...and I dont really know what to do with the one below the PS, but i have it exhaust to get rid of some of the trapped air right about my sinks (BP6). AM I right?
