videologic/powervr Neon 250. Never heard of it?It's the chip they use the Sega DreamCast console, cool huh? Except this one also comes
in 32MB. It's 143/125 speed. It has a special
thing where it doesn't render/process pixels
you can't see on your screen which makes it
much faster. O yea,it's used in most arcades too. Anyways i found it fot $140 at http://www.outpost.com/cgi-bin/bv.cgi?form%25login_type=member&form%25success=%2Ftemplates%2FOutpost%2Findex.tmpl&form%25success_type=template&form%25failure=%2Ftemplates%2FOutpost %2Ffailure.tmpl&form%25failure_type=template&submit%25form=Start&BV_Operation=DynCo_LandingPadReceive&form%25BC=bHcrPRmEMZvp8UpBQxa%2B1%2BDlpXJoHZdDIvbW +2ok%3DZcNSWiV1rxTY%3DccZWS+ kdnBSX%3DkcS%2B8lwZi.WDM.Ov7Twii+ZD0abOv0Q.Y3rox63 Qhv7X+hg%3DYb5Lt0jcAnhYE%2BJQiITAliTcx+VVEmx5dA13h gsxSS%3Dnd4I10wmltoLex6wRmEP7nAV0eHL4-t9%2Bxu.P0eH5l7Oh8p0g4pS5LXigimdrHHW%3DncG 7Psk3sop5M.0s%3DWluaeFC&form%25site_name=cnet&form%25site_id=shopper&form%25sku=69543 Or Outpost.com

Yes, the Neon250 can easily exceed the performance of a TNT-2 Ultra, and even approach the fill rates of the GF-256 SDR. Be warned that VideoLogic's driver are still under development, as this card is based on a tile rendering architecture. A completely updated driver set with full support for DirectX 8.0 and OpenGL 1.1+ will be out in the next few weeks, as they will based ont he drivers for the new PowerVR-3 KYRO chipset.

Check out the KYRO, as it is an extremely powerful card with a great amount of potential. It's also cheaper than other cards, as the 64meg version will retail for less than $250 US. Performance with the final production board and alpha level drivers is already exceeding the GF-256 GTS in some benchmarks. Here's more info about the KYRO:

Will there be a PCI version for the Kyro?
Is $140 w/ free overnight good, can you find
it cheaper? Is this card good for emulators such as N64,PSX2,and DreanCats?

Will the Kyro be in PCI format? When will it
be out?

I believe Gigapixel also has the technology to render only pixels that you see. But they were bought out by 3dfx, so who knows what they're doing to Gigapixel now.

ST-Micro hasn't stated whether they would release a PCI version of this KYRO. The only press releases I've had access to indicate that it will be releases in an AGP format.

BTW, the GigaPixel GP-3 chipset will be incorporated into a 3dfx product for release around early Q2 '01. It will feature a 25+ GigaTexel fill rate (depth complexity of 4), and should scale extremely well. It would have been used for their upcoming card Rampage chipets (around December), but 3dfx has already spent large amount of money to develop the Rampage chipset. Once GP designs are combined with 3dfx engineering, expect some VERY powerful video cards to hit the market.
