they are not out. Does the GTS2 really come
in PCI? Anyways, I dont got alot of money
($205). So maybe V4 4500. But there's all
talk/news about the V5 5500, is the V4 com'en
out? When?
P.S. I was thinking of gettin a S4 S540 32MB
and o/cing it w/ a 5000+ RPM fan(40x40x10)
sunon fan($5). Good? No?

Thanks For Yo time!

The Geforce 2 will be out in PCI form. Unfortunately, I don't know when (hopefully soon). I don't know if Voodoo4 will ever see the light of day. For you see, according to the specs, a Geforce DDR already has it beat, and that's not even Nvidia's top card. So if 3dfx were to release the Voodoo4, they would have to price it lower than the Geforce (you'd assume...), and it wasn't poised to be a budget card. They're up a creek here. If you really want top of the line performance now in PCI form, then V5 5500 is your only option.

As for your suggestion about the Savage 4, I say wait if you can. I had a Savage 4 card... in fact, that exact one (in AGP form), and I didn't like it. But other people do like it, so I guess the issue is split. As for overclocking, that's a good way to pull a little extra performance out, but don't think you'll be able to shame a Geforce.

for PCI slot, you should get TNT/2 card.
S4 sucks and V5500 PCI too expensive.

How bout the good ol V3?
The V4 was supposta be a single 166Mhz VSA-100 chip with 32MB. The V3 3000 is a 166Mhz V3 chip, with 16MB. The chips are almost identical, except for 32Bit rendering on the VSA and the RAM.
If your system doesnt have an AGP slot, chances are it wouldnt be able to take advantage of the video power of anything higher than a V3 anyways.
Or maybe invest some of that money into a new Motherboard?

my advice is, get a cheap Voodoo3 2000 or 3000, it'll make you happy for a little while and when the GeForce2 and Voodoo5 5500 are available in PCI and really getting cheap, get one! I've had my Voodoo3 2000 for over a year now and I'll be getting a GF2 or a V5 in a little while... waiting for the prices to fall a bit... I'm not going to pay 550$CAN to get a video card!!! Never!

Later,
Shnak
