Thanks ~Joel(jl123) [This message has been edited by jl123 (edited 03-18-2000).] noresull 03-18-2000, 02:42 PM Joel, Has your Uncle had it in for service lately? If so, check the "air Suspension Disable Switch" in the trunk, (Left hand side) Make sure it is not down (off position) If this isn't the problem, let me know. That system is VERY complicated and it just so happens, I'm Ford factory certified to fix them! http://www.sysopt.com/forum/smile.gif John Richard_Cranium72 03-18-2000, 04:55 PM Noreskull is right, the system is complicated. But, the real pain is the expense. Ford air suspension shocks can run two grand installed. These may be leaking, I'm not at all familar with the particulars of the system, it just makes common sense. You see a lot of Lincolns running around smashed to the ground. You've asked for a manual source, I didn't check on line, but here is a source that supplies the "other" manuals, perhaps they do Ford also.. "Alistra Corp, 171 Hamilton St. Plymouth Mo. 48170, Phone no. 1-800-627-5699" Look in the owners manual in the back for Service Publications and Service manuals.. After numerous expensive replacement of stock parts , shocks ,compressor, leveling switch, I installed a good set of Monroe air shocks and have been happy ever since...Just a thought.... the pickel hhh8785 03-19-2000, 01:55 PM now i may not be an expert in the field of automobile repair, but my guess, based on what i know, is that if it says "check air suspension" then just maybe, you might need to take it somewhere and have them check the air suspension. just an idea though. noresull 03-19-2000, 02:23 PM Hey triple H, if it's something as simple as a switch, then I don't think his uncle should spend money on getting it fixed by a shop. Yeah some shops might not charge, but some non-dealer shops might spend an hour before they realize "it's just a switch" I work at a Ford dealer, and have seen this very problem. The customer states "the check air suspension light is on, I took it to my local garage, and they send they didn't have the resources, and didn't even look at it. So I figured I better bring it in to the dealer." Once I got the repair order it never even made it inside the shop, I popped the trunk, turned the switch on, returned the repair order and the shop charged .5 hr. for diagnostic, and in my profession, that is how I get paid also, by the job. So I guess what I'm trying to say is, if it's simple then let him fix it himself, and save $35 or so. ~edit~ BTW, isn't that what this BBS is all about, except with computers?
